Dichanthelium yadkinense (Ashe) Mohlenbrock. Spotted-sheath Witchgrass. Phen: May-Oct. Hab: Floodplain forests, thickets, bottomlands, and swamps, often on alluvial deposits. Dist: NJ and MI south to GA and TX; Mexico.

ID notes:Sheaths often with wart-like glands. This taxon resembles D. species 9 (=cryptanthum), from which it differs most readily by its hairy ligule (vs. membranous) and smooth peduncle (vs. antrorsely scabrous).
