MBTI Type: ESFP

Nala is just as aggressive, physical, and up for new adventures as Simba; she happily helps him evade Zazu and romps in the Elephant Graveyard. She’s exceptionally good at “pinning” Simba each time they scrap with each other, and as an adult, is quick to leap into action (and to drop her former intentions, once she recognizes Simba). Nala pushes him to be opportunistic and abandon his lifestyle of nothingness for purpose, and pieces together the facts quickly (he’s king of Pride Rock!). She shows little inferior Ni at any point, except in that she believes Simba should claim his birthright and embrace a larger vision for his life. Nala shows little regard for social appropriateness, and often has a lot of hard truths to share with Simba, but also prides herself on her own skills and talents (“Pinned you… again!”). Ultimately, her belief that Simba should return and save the lionesses from Scar is rooted in “it’s the right thing to do,” rather than in its appropriateness for the Pride. Once she has to explain herself to Timon and Pumba, she does in simple, clear terms, and is quick to take action on Simba’s behalf.

Enneagram: 6w7

Nala is more careful and respectful of the Pride’s traditions than Simba; she does not like to break the rules, but her 7 wing also makes her adventurous and able to keep up with Simba’s desire to experience more. She has faithfully stood by her Pride in his absence, working to find food to feed them while the Pride Lands languish away. Nala berates him, once she finds him, for abandoning them all for a life of idleness. She has held onto what makes her feel safe—her family and friends. Her 7 wing makes her playful and adventurous, able to strike out and hunt in the lands away from Pride Rock. As a social subtype, she focuses on the betterment of the group (her Pride) and has self-confidence in her convictions.
