Race Driver Grid PS3/Xbox 360

Race Driver Grid or just GRID as it’s known was a racing game lots of us had waited for, for those who find game like the Gran Turismo series or Forza Series too big this answered those issues. The story was built up almost like a tournament working up in tiers on the 3 set Country groups (USA, Europe and Japan). It offered us many different styles of racing From Demolition Derby Races to Touring Cars and Pro Tuners up to the likes of GP 1 and 2 all the way up to LMS1 like the Audi RT10.

Now and then you’d have to go head to head with Ravenwest “The team to beat”, The difficulty curve here i found a little bit Over the top, although the races could be accomplished it was a little bit too much of a jump for my liking. You could slam the side of them at 150mph whilst they’re turning and they’d just drive off as if nothing happened where as if you did that in the usual races you’d likely wipe you and the other car out of the race,

The story is a little short but with the many different difficulty levels which reduce the amount of replays(Flashbacks) you get if you screw up 🙂 this allows you to improve your skills and that is a must if you plan to go online.

Online I would rate this as the best online racing game I’ve played to date, when I first went online I wasn’t sure what to expect, although I tried many of the different types it was Touring Cars that captured my heart. With the right settings to stop sore loser’s ruining the race for the rest of us you could have some amazing races. Being able to race the Touring Car races on the Hardest difficulty I honestly believed I was pretty sh*t hot at it; oh how my eyes were opened. Firstly it was more often than not unacceptable to be a careless driver, if you were you’d find yourself kicked from the lobby. So you have to learn to race clean meaning you need to know what the latest you can brake is on every bend and how to take the corners in the best possible way. I remember finding myself on some tracks a couple of seconds slower PER LAP than some of the top drivers. I didn’t even think this was possible cause I believed I was good… With more and more practice I did improve and eventually established a mutual respect between myself and others and had a small group of (online) friends or just names that I knew as respectable players and would always look for lobby’s with them in.

Below are some links to game play I have recorded from single races made up for examples of gameplay of the different types of races.
