I was wondering if this is the same as the
camellia japonica 'fimbriata'? They look the same to me and that's what it was labeled at a local botanical garden. Are these just closely related variants or cultivars whose seeds are a wild guess?

I guess maybe it's the folded petal edges. Sorry if there is a better word for that. I tried googling for something better than folded petal edges and came up empty.

'Fimbriata' is a sport of 'Alba Plena,' whereas Nuccio's Gem is a hybridized cultivar.
