Description

SILVER MAPLE
Silver Maple, named for the silvery undersides of the leaves, naturally occurs in moist soils but is adaptable to both dry conditions and areas with temporary flooding. This fast growing native tree flowers early in spring and then drops samaras, seeds with wings, to the ground in summer providing a food source for birds and mammals. Maples have high wildlife value, supporting almost 300 species of Lepidoptera.
