Take a peek into what SA regional icon, Langhorne Creek, has to offer

The South-Eastern region provides a trip off of the beaten track with local beer, amazing wines, and stunning landscapes

Although Langhorne Creek may not be a household name when it comes to tourist destinations, we are here to tell you why it should be.

The South-Eastern region provides a trip off of the beaten track with local beer, amazing wines, and stunning landscapes that all contribute to the culture of Langhorne Creek.

Langhorne Creek is a historic agricultural area where a handful of families make some of Australia’s most generous red and white wines, graze cattle and sheep, run market gardens, create artisan breads and preserve their farm produce.

Working alongside and amongst them are the local viticulturists growing premium fruit for Australia’s largest and most prestigious wine companies.

“Langhorne Creek is one of Australia’s oldest wine regions yet when you visit, you feel that you’ve been let in on a wonderful secret” – Gourmet Traveller Wine

The Bridge Hotel Langhorne Creek is one of the areas greatest contributors, with the pub establishing themselves over 170 years ago. Which is around the time Langhorne Creek started to grow its first grapes.

Owners Michele and Steve Wade expresses some of the draw’s of Langhorne Creek. “The magical Lake Alexandrina down the road and Newmans Horseradish (an SA Icon) around the corner.”

“My favourite things about Langhorne Creek is that it is only 1 hour away from the city and yet we live in rural life, we have 8 cellar doors including the first owned and run by sisters, as well as having the oldest family owned cabernet vines in the world!” Michele says.

The secret of The Bridge Hotel Langhorne Creek is slowly getting told through the Wine Train which regularly stops through the pub to provide an authentic experience of the area.

Michele describes The Bridge Hotel Langhorne Creek as providing “down to earth service, great pub meals, friendly service, fire places, local beer and wine, gorgeous outlook from the terrace, generous serves, cold beer.”

You can also expect wine tours to leave the pub in horse drawn carriages, limos and mini buses.

The Handpicked Festival is another amazing draw to the area, and we are expecting to see the return of the festival in November of this year.

Only an hour away from the city, there is no reason why you cannot visit this hidden gem and sample some Langhorne Creeks’ outstanding offerings.
