Varsity Four at Big Ten Invitational Day One

No. 14 Blue Devils Finish Strong at Big Ten Invitational

SARASOTA, Fla. – The Blue Devils collected three second-place finishes to highlight the second day of racing at the Big Ten Invitational at Nathan Benderson Park on Saturday morning.

Duke raced five boats against three top-20 opponents in No. 13 Rutgers, No. 15 Tennessee and No. 16 Indiana to close out the two-day invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Second Varsity Four and Varsity Four opened the morning races with back-to-back second-place times of 7:28.034 and 7:17.402, respectively. The Blue Devils raced past crews from Rutgers and Indiana, while following closely behind Tennessee.
  • The Second Varsity Eight stayed competitive in their final race, going neck and neck with Indiana, to register a time of 6:37.881. The 2V8 improved their time by almost seven seconds from the afternoon race on Friday.
  • Duke's Varsity Eight and Third Varsity Eight clocked a time of 6:31.288 and 6:48.597, respectively, to round out the competition on the weekend.
