Luc Besson (born March 18, 1959, in Paris, France), a writer, director, and producer, directed movies in French, like La Femme Nikita (1991) with Anne Parillaud, and in English, like The Professional (1994) with Jean Reno and Natalie Portman, The Fifth Element (1997) with Bruce Willis, The Messenger: Story of Joan of Arc (1999) with Milla Jovovich, Bandidas (2006) with Salma Hayek and Penélope Cruz, The Lady (2011) with Michelle Yeoh as Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi, Lucy (2014) with Scarlett Johansson, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2016). He co-wrote and produced Taken (2008) with Liam Neeson and sequels Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 (2015).
