RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Mines men's and women's indoor track teams return to action after a short break from competition when they compete in the two-day SDSU Indoor Classic Friday and Saturday in Brookings, S.D.
The meet begins Friday at 3 p.m. at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex, with Saturday's action beginning at 10 a.m.
The Hardrockers last competed Jan. 26-27 at the Dave Little Alumni Mile, hosted by Black Hills State University in Spearfish. South Dakota Mines finished with five titles, with the 'Rocker men winning the meet with 226 points and the women placing second with 108 points.
Leading the way for the South Dakota Mines men was freshman
Sawyer Nelson, who won the triple jump and the high jump, with senior
Taegen Wells winning the 60-meter hurdles. Also for the Hardrockers, freshman
Trevor Fredenburg won the long jump and the 4X400 relay team of freshman
Lane Thomas, freshman
Cole Dobberstein, junior
Ethan Pitlick and sophomore
Thomas Greisen finished in first place.
The women were led by the distance medley team of
Abbie Saline,
Katie Magni,
Adeline Wilson and
Clare Fischer, winning the event. Fischer also won the 3K run, while
Josie Byrne also won the pentathlon.
