Velvet Bean (Mucuna pruriens), a tropical legume that can be found growing in India, the Caribbean and tropical areas of Africa, also known as velvet bean.

The seeds of the Mucuna pruriens plant are known to naturally contain levodopa, also known as L-dopa, at high concentrations. This bioactive phytochemical is a precursor to several neurotransmitters, including adrenaline, noradrenaline, and dopamine.

Multiple scientific reports suggest that Mucuna pruriens possesses pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory, anti-neoplastic, anti-epileptic and anti-microbial activities.
