This photo is courtesy SHS Librarian Denise Harbour via 1969 annual.  It shows Bobby Smith (left in shoes) and Robert Archer practicing.  During this time, Junior Lusby graded a track for practice that had dirt, rocks and stickers.  Bobby often said how nice it would have been to run on the track the Lynx and Lynxettes enjoy today.  The "new" field was built in 1976.

Smith continues to hold his record because the 220 yard dash is no longer an event.
(photo shows Bobby holds the records in three events, the 100, 200 & 400)

Thompson set the new school record in the 200 meter April 6, with a 21.90.

Brenen is the son of Bonnie Thompson and grandson of Richie and Karen Thompson.  He has been a record breaker and is an outstanding athlete in other sports as well as track.

When Bobby's wife Dixie told him about his record being broken, he asked how long he'd had it.  When Dixie told him 50 years, he laughed and said "well, that's long enough!"
