They mean the same, but svoltare is used only in street range... for example when you are driving you can say "devo svoltare a destra" or "devo girare a destra", while when you are walking you can't use svoltare.

They are pratically the same, "girare" is more generic, "svoltare" is more correct to say "to turn"

They're similar. However, you can girarti intorno (turn around) but not svoltarti intorno :)
