Meet Anitra Bogar

Anitra Bogar

“Making daily decisions in line with destiny and paying systematic attention to divine details” – Pastor Ben Gibert

These are words that Anitra attempts to live by each day. Anitra grew up on the northwest side of Houston near Acres Homes affectionately known as “The 44”. Her mom (her real life super hero) moved to Houston at the age of 3 with her parents and siblings. Against all odds, she was the only member of her family to graduate from college and later in life earn a graduate degree. Against all odds success was the only option.

With someone like this in your corner, there were no excuses. Anitra’s childhood was “normal” she played games with her cousins, went to school and always had food on the table. As an adult she now understands the hard work and sacrifice that took place to make this look so easy. Middle school presented its own challenges, but that’s what happens when you’re the 2nd tallest person in the entire school. But with every challenge comes an opportunity and during 7th grade Anitra was recruited (really forced) to play basketball for the school team. She knew nothing about the game but learned quickly and found a new passion, ALL THINGS SPORTS !! (This includes becoming an avid Houston Oilers fan).

It’s important for people to know participating in sports go beyond the commitment on the field or court. Adding athletics to the regime provided the means to develop new friendships, to become much more responsible, to think beyond herself, to be respectful but COMPETITIVE, to always have a goal, to be comfortable in her own skin and to never give up These attributes and qualities remain in her day to day life. After graduating high school, Anitra attended Baylor University ( 2021 Men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament Champions). As a result of hard work, discipline, sacrifice and of course a bit of fun, she earned a BBA in Accounting and Finance and became a member of the illustrious Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

“Live Life on Purpose” – Anitra Bogar

Anitra is the mom of two dynamic young men who are by far her proudest accomplishments. Being a mom is the hardest job but it’s without a doubt the most rewarding. These young men are our future and all I can say is our future is bright!

Giving back to the community has always been a continuous thread in Anitra’s life. Her community service efforts began as a hospital volunteer at St. Lukes Hospital, continued through college via the Boys and Girls Club of America, serving on the schools PTO board, working at the Houston Food Bank, Junior Achievement, Rebuild Houston, United Way and with the boys through other organizations such as Jack and Jill of America Inc.

It’s Anitra’s true desire to create a non-profit organization which focuses on linking community to corporations and independent benefactors who have a true desire to dig in and make a difference. Working with one person (family) at a time to create change which impacts the world. Creating a lifelong cycle of change.

Although some still believe Houstonians are cowboys who ride around on horses everyone should know Houston is a dynamic powerhouse with a thriving economy full of people with flavor. Diversity and opportunity are cornerstones which set this city apart from so many others. Simply put there’s something for everyone in Houston. We look out for our neighbors and have a resilient spirit like none other.
