Y-3 Transforms the FYW S-97 Into a High Top Basketball Sneaker
The FYW S-97 II is equipped with a full-length BOOST midsole and comes in two colorways.
In July 2019, Y-3 gave adidas‘ FYW S-97 a Yohji Yamamoto-approved makeover, and now the avant-garde sportswear division has upgraded the silhouette by turning it into a high top basketball-esque shoe.
Dubbed the Y-3 FYW S-97 II, the pair comes in “Black/Footwear White” and “Chalk White/Bold Blue/Ecru Tint,” and presents plenty of changes aside from the obvious newly-added height. Whereas the inaugural pair was made from Primeknit, overlayed with leather and suede detailing all around, the S-97 II is made entirely from a canvas textile and suede base.
Elsewhere, the sneaker is fitted with a foam-cushioned heel collar, and is fully lined in leather. The use of leather continues to decorate the three stripes on the sides. Rounding out both pairs is the Y-3 branding on the tongue, and its signature FYW S-97 sole unit.
This is the same sole unit found on the low top pair, meaning it delivers a full-length serving of BOOST and is caged in TPU housing.
Take a look at the Y-3 FYW S-97 II in “Black/Footwear White” and “Chalk White/Bold Blue/Ecru Tint” above, and pick up both pairs now from stockists including Overkill. The sneaker retails for €349 EUR (approx. $415 USD).
