Indo-American Senior Citizen Center of New York, Inc., (“the Center”), a section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, established 25 years ago, is currently celebrating its Silver Jubilee Year. The Center , with a membership of nearly 1,600+, organizes a wide array of robust and innovative programs.

President Mukund Mehta

President - Mukund Mehta

Mukund Mehta joined CALTEX Oil Company in Bombay, India, in 1964. He was transferred with family to its Head Quarters CALTEX New York in 1971. He continued with the Company and its parent companies TEXACO and CHEVRON until 2002 and retired as a Senior Tax Attorney.

His academic qualifications include B. COM (Hons.), Bombay University, Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant and Chartered Corporate Secretary from India & MBA, CPA, JD (Fordham University) and LLM (NYU School of Law) from USA.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut Law Bars. He has been moot court judge at NYU School of Law for more than 25 years.

He is currently President of Indo-American Senior Citizen Center of New York, Inc., a nonprofit organization having a membership of nearly 1,500, and also President of India Home, Inc., the only secular and staffed community-based nonprofit organization in New York providing culturally appropriate services to South Asian and Indo-Caribbean seniors. 

He is a Director of Federation of Indian American Seniors Associations of North America (FISANA), a nonprofit organization established with an aim to serve the Indo-American Seniors in Tri-State region with the core purpose to develop a consensual, coordinated and integrated approach to common needs and goals of seniors residing in the region. He is also a member of the India Unit and a volunteer at Parker Jewish Institute Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, New Hyde park, New York. 

He is a trustee of Vaishnav Temple of New York, Spiritual Development Center of New York, Brahmin Samaj of New York and Gujarati Samaj of New York (2009 through 2013 and thereafter called a Well Wisher).

Mukund and his wife Padma are actively participating in the above organizations. The couple is blessed with two daughters, Nita (Ophthalmologist) and Kamini (Rheumatologist).

Vice President - Pankaj Parikh

Pankaj Parikh has a Master’s degree in Law. He worked for banks in various positions in India and USA for 44 years. He has initiated several new programs for the center during past 10 years. He has arranged 7 cruise trips for the members.

Vice President PR - Jagdish Patel

Jagdish Patel is an entrepreneur who is involved in several businesses of his own,commercial as well several residential properties in Queens.Mr. Patel has extensive knowledge of management of commercial and residential properties. Mr. Patel served in the Board of Directors of Gujarati Samaj of New York, Queens, NY. which has about 2600 life members. As a president he was involved in the reconstruction of the Gujarati Samaj Center. He also serves as Vice President (PR) of Indo-American Senior Citizen Center of New York, Inc.

Vice President-Finance - Ashok Sheth

Mr. Ashok Sheth whose qualifications include B. Com (Hons.), CPA, Chartered Accountant and Chartered Global Management Accountant, has a varied experience in Finance. Present Experience:  Cost & Contract Price Advisor with the U.S. Federal Government.

Practicing as a CPA – Engaged in Audit, Taxation, Estate Planning and Risk & Control Management.

Past Experience: Worked as a Managing Director, Vice President & Finance Controller in prestigious firms, such as American Express, Lehman Bros., Standard & Poor’s and City Global.

Overseas Experience: Worked in India, Iraq and West Africa as a Finance Controller and Managing Director with the Petro Chemical, Fertilizers, Construction and Manufacturing industries in collaboration with Canada, Italy and West Germany.

Achievement: Recipient of the Commendable service AWARD FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

Social Activities: Served as a Vice President with the Vaishnav Temple of New York.

Hobbies- Domestic & Int’l Travel, Reading, Dramas and Dancing & Music.

Family- Blessed with wife Priya (B.S. with psychology), three daughters: Viraj Saksena (Business Graduate); Shivani Thakkar (P. A.- Dermatology); and Dr. Ishita Sheth (Adults Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases Specialist), and three grandchildren.

Treasurer - Ramesh Shah

Ramesh Shah  is a Commerce Graduate. He is senior most member of the Executive committee. He has been Treasurer of the Center almost from the inception. Apart from handling accounts, he maintains records of the members and enrolls them for various events. He devotes considerable time to maintain accounts accurately.

Secretary - Niranjan Patel

Niranjan Patel was born and raised in Ahmedabad, India. Due to his interest in science, he went to Dharmsinh Desai Institute of Technology in Nadiad where he obtained a bachelor in chemical engineering in 1978. Soon after, he started working at a Research and Development Lab within a prestigious chemical refinery in Mumbai. Having dreams of coming to the United States, he immigrated to America in 1984. Since then, he has established his roots here in Queens, NY and worked in several different service industries until retiring in 2016.
                In 2010, Niranjan decided to become a member of the Indo-American Senior Citizen Center of NY in order to create long lasting relationships with others who share the same customs and values that he does. His attention to detail was recognized by the President and committee members, thereby appointing him to the Executive Committee as Secretary. Since his time in office, he’s helped fuel the momentum of the organization through taking accurate minutes and maintaining organized records of members.

Jt. Secretary - Jitendra Zaveri

Jitendra Zaveri currently serves as the Joint Secretary for IASCC of NY. Mr. Zaveri has been a resident of the US for 50 years having received a Chemical Engineering degree from Texas A&M University. He has started and run several successful businesses and has been a long time benefactor to Geeta Temple and Divya Dham Temple. He currently lives in Long Island with his wife Rita of over 40 years and they have 2 sons who are successful professionals.

EC Member - Varsha Parikh

Varsha Parikh is BA with Economics. She owned and handled wholesale beverage distribution business. She has been involved in planning and successful implementation of many new programs of the center. She looks after Registration process at most of the events.

EC Member - Nayana Gandhi

Nayanaben Gandhi  is Commerce Graduate. She is from a family of motel business. She is very generous in supporting activities of the Center. Apart from helping in the kitchen, she is always willing to help in any other area of Center’s programs.

EC Member - Jatin Dharia​

After graduating from Bombay University and acquiring a B.Com degree, Jatin joined family business in electrical products and advanced to the position of Sales and Marketing Director. His business acumen and vision resulted in exponential growth in business sales.

He immigrated to U.S. in 2012 on a green card status and with the support of his uncle, Arvind Dharia, joined Steve Madden group in the logistic department.

Jatin is socially very active and volunteers at several organizations including Indo-American Senior Citizen Center of New York, Senior Community Center of Vaishnav Temple and Gujarati Samaj of New York.
He is the youngest executive member of Indo-American Senior Citizen Center of New York.

He is married to Rupal and the couple has two sons, Mohil (29 years) and Parth (25 years.)
