SWIMMING SWIMMING LESSONS POOLS

*Only register for one swimming session at a time. You can sign up for additional swimming sessions once your current session ends, then register for the next level. Changes/refunds are not issued for registrations made in advance for the wrong classes.

Swimming Lesson Overview: Children progress through a series of seven levels designed to teach the fundamentals of swimming and encourage aquatic exploration with guided instruction. In doing so, the Fargo Park District works to ensure a high level of competency is acquired by participants in both aquatic safety and swimming skills. FP Pre-level (ages 4-5): Participants learn how to be safe around water and begin working on floating, arm and leg movements, and confidence in the water where they can touch. FP Level 1: Students continue building confidence by learning the basic swimming kicks and arm strokes (whip and flutter kicks and the front and back crawl) with support from floatation devices and the instructor. FP Level 2: Students focus on practicing the skill sets learned in level one and build the confidence to complete the skills without support from the instructor and/or floatation devices. FP Level 3: Students begin working on their swimming endurance along with more intermediate swimming skills such as the breaststroke and diving. FP Level 4: Students continue developing their swimming endurance and begin working on more advanced swimming strokes, such as the side stroke and butterfly. Basic lifesaving practices, such as a reach-throw technique, are introduced that focus specifically on staying safe around pools, lakes and rivers.

SWIMMING LESSONS Fargo Park District offers swimming lessons during the summer season for ages 4-14. Participants must be 5 years old to begin in level 1. EXCEPTION: If a 4 year old has passed all requirements for Preschool Level, they may register for Level 1. SPRING INDOOR LESSONS REGISTRATION FEE: $55.00 First come, first serve basis until classes are full. No registrations are accepted after sessions have begun. HOW TO REGISTER: FargoParks.com

Coupled with ensuring the proper racquet length and using different types of tennis balls based on age and ability, our goal is to get your child playing tennis as soon as possible. This system gives your child a visible progression to maximize their improvement. Each of our lessons are divided up into three critical phases beginning with a warm-up emphasizing tennis specific movement and coordination. This is followed by a skill-building phase. Then, skills are practiced “live” in a competitive phase, where rallying and game conditions are experienced. REGISTRATION SESSION 1: June 6-30 (4 weeks) SESSION 2: July 11-August 4 (4 weeks) FEE: $50.00/session/participant Student to instructor ratio of 10:1. ADOPT-THE-RED

The greatest threat to the Red River today is non-point source pollution. Keeping the banks of the Red River litter-free is one way to reduce non-point source pollution. The Adopt-The-Red program stresses prevention of litter accumulation and rubbish removal by recruiting people to “adopt” reaches of the river. Cleanups remove trash and litter while increasing community pride. For more information, please call 551-5891.

3

CREATE MEMORIALS & TRIBUTES

Commemorate significant people and note-worthy events with a tribute tree or bench within the park system. A tribute bench or tree provides lasting recognition of the significant people and occasions in your life while serving as a great enhancement to many people’s quality of life in Fargo. For more information, please call 499-7778.
