Joseph Brantley Durrett III

Brant Durrett graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and from the University of Mississippi School of Law. Today he practices as a trial lawyer, with specific focus in representing policyholders, individual and small businesses, in litigation to resolve disputes with insurers. In his spare time, Durrett occupies himself with hunting, grilling, fantasy football, motorcycles and the Ole Miss Rebels. Durrett attended SBS from 1979-1981 and is a member of the first graduating class of Second Baptist School. He considers David “Truck” Turner, his physics teacher, to be one of his favorite teachers. “I was able to get to know Truck outside of the classroom when we would go fishing together. I liked Mr. Turner because he was smart and because he was a rebel of sorts.” Some of his favorite memories while attending SBS were the class trips to Boston and New York. Since then, my daughter Hailie ‘09 graduated as a Lifer, two of my nieces, Abbey ‘19 and Brooke ‘20, attend Middle School now, and my wife works there as the Director of Communications.”

Rebecca Young Baker

Rebecca Young Baker is a graduate of Duke University and the Georgetown University Law Center. She works as a labor and employment lawyer for Bracewell & Giuliani, LLP. Baker is a Lifer. She attended SBS from 1986 until graduating in 1999. One of her favorite teachers was Mrs. Rebecca Larkin. “Mrs. Larkin really has a gift for leading class discussions.” Her favorite SBS activities were cheerleading and the spring musicals. She is most thankful for “…the opportunity to learn in such a caring, supportive environment. David Morris

David Morris graduated from The University of Texas and the University of Houston Law Center. Currently, he works as a trial lawyer for Bracewell & Giuliani, LLP, where he recently worked on a trial team that won a three-week jury trial against one of the top personal injury firms in Houston. Morris attended SBS from 1984 until 1997. His favorite teacher was Kathy Lee. “She taught geometry and calculus, both of which I enjoyed. She was great at explaining very complicated subjects, and she always offered her time outside of class to help us if we needed it.” David’s advice to SBS students: “High goals are His favorite activities were football and basketball.
