HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?

• Artwork Exhibition

• $15 entry fee

• 150 pieces will be selected

• Chair Installation Project

• no entry fee

• 30 pieces will be selected

ARTWORK EXHIBITION – OPTION 1

• 2-Dimensional work

• Small/Medium work (2 pieces)

• Long side must measure 24” or less

• Short side must measure at least 12”

OR

• Large work (1 piece)

• Longest side must measure greater than 24”

• Longest side maximum measurement is 60”

• Measurements must include matting and frame

ARTWORK EXHIBITION – OPTION 2

• 3-Dimensional work – One (1) piece

• Must fit with a 36” x 36” footprint

• Must be less than 8’ tall

• Pedestals will be available

• Work must be self-supporting

• Wall-hanging pieces are acceptable, limited wall space, artist is responsible for all hardware

CHAIR INSTALLATION PROJECT

• Maximum 30 applications accepted, first submitted, first accepted

• “CHAIR” is defined as a object that you sit upon

• Please consider ALL visible surfaces

• Artist Statement

• Each piece entered must be accompanied by an artist statement

• Maximum 500 characters

• Written in the 1st person

• “How your piece relates to the theme”

• 2-D pieces one (1) image per piece

• 3-D piece up to three (3) imagines

• Chair up to three (3) imagines

• Naming image files

• LastNameFirstInitial-Title, example SmithJ-MyPainting

• Multiple images, add “01”,“02”, or “03” to the end of the file name

• File size must be less than 5MB

PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR WORK

• Artwork, do not include mat and frame unless it is part of the work

• Find a well-lighted space, no shadows on the artwork

• 3-D Work/Chairs, use a neutral background

JUDGING

• Two (2) judges will be selected to review the show

• Best of Show

• 1st Place

• 2nd Place

• 3rd Place

• Honorable Mention (up to three awards)

IMPORTANT DATES

• SHOW DATES: September 20 – October 25, 2024

• Opening Reception: Friday, September 20 at 4:00 PM/Gallery Talk at 4:45 PM

• Applications Open: Monday, July 8 at 9:00 AM (Formstack)

• Applications Close: Wednesday, August 14 at 11:59 PM

• Artist Notifications:Wednesday, August 21

IMPORTANT DATES

• Drop-off artwork and chairs

• Saturday, September 7, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

• Sunday, September 8, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

• Artwork may be shipped, details will be included in Notification Email

• Pick up artwork – October 26 & 27, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

HOW YOU CAN HELP?

• We will need volunteers

• Checking in artwork/chairs

• Checking out artwork/chairs

• Hanging the show (3 days)

• A form will be included in the application

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

• Is the show juried?

• No, but the show will judged.We are hiring two judges, they will determine the following recognition awards: Best of Show, 1st, 2nd , and 3rd place and up to three honorable mentions

• Should my piece be portrait or landscape oriented?

• Orientation is up to you. Check the prospectus for dimension guidelines.

• Is there a hanging system?

• No, we will be using nails to hang work

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

• Does the venue provide hanging supplies?

• They will provide nails and hammers. If you have special hanging requirements, you will need to provide those.

• Who is hanging the show?

• We will be hanging the show.At the end of the application forms, there will be an additional form asking for volunteers to assist in the hanging of the show.

• Are their size limitations for the chairs?

• The standard chair is 36” tall. If you are creating a chair from scratch, please follow the guidelines for 3-Dimensional work.

• Do we need an artist statement for our chair?

• Yes, follow the guidelines listed in this presentation

• Does the theme of the chair have to match the theme of my artwork?

• No, there is a good discussion in the recording of the meeting about this

• What is the length of each artist statement?

• Artist statements can not exceed 500 characters, including SPACES.

• Does work have to be for sale?

• No.

• Can buyers take art right off the wall when they purchase?

• No, artwork must remain in the gallery through the run of the show.
