Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne has selected Joe McMichael as its new Executive Director of Career Coaching and Employer Connections (CCEC). He assumed his role on Jan. 6. McMichael will serve as the primary campus advisor regarding the career development of students to meet the training, education and employment needs of the Fort Wayne campus service area.

“I’m excited to help empower students to make informed academic and career decisions by proactively engaging, supporting, and connecting them to high-quality work-and-learn experiences and successful career outcomes,” says McMichael. “I look forward to preparing each student to meet their career goals by obtaining employment that aligns them with the needs of our workforce.”

McMichael will be responsible for leading all aspects of the CCEC campus organization, including other members of the workforce and career team to advance strategies for a self-sustaining organization with related performance measures. 

“I am excited to have Joe as a member of the leadership team at Ivy Tech Fort Wayne,” says Ivy Tech Fort Wayne Chancellor Jerrilee Mosier. “His knowledge and his experience will be invaluable as we transition to the new and improved services provided to students and employers through the Career Coaching and Employer Connections Center (CCEC).”

McMichael was promoted from Director of Career Development where he directed and managed activities for the Career Development Office including job fairs, orientations and workshops. He was a prominent leader in the development and implementation of a sustainable work-based learning program. Before that, McMichael worked for ITT Technical Institute where he was the Director of Career Services.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from The Ohio State University in 1995. McMichael has over 20 years of experience in Career Development management.
