Often a whitecap limpet (Acmaea mitra) can be seen covered in coralline algae. It’s interesting that this animal’s shell is coated with the same type of algae that it consumes. The whitecap limpet can grow to 2 inches (5cm) across, with a range from northern Alaska to northern Mexico.
