Nebraska football player Jared Crick will be presented with the Brook Berringer Memorial Endowed Scholarship before the Western Kentucky game at Memorial Stadium on Saturday night.
The junior defensive tackle from Cozad was a first-team all-conference pick last season. Off the field, he was named to the 2010 Brook Berringer Citizenship Team for his work in the community. Crick volunteered with hospital visits, as a speaker at grade schools and during World War II veterans visits.
Berringer was a quarterback who died in a plane crash in 1996. The scholarship in his name is awarded for excellent character and integrity.
Crick says the scholarship is a great honor and that working as a volunteer motivates him to play hard.
