Julie's Annual Rose Tour

I’m at home, as I am sure most of you are, and all the home time has given me more time than usual to work in the garden and enjoy my rose collection! I have over 30 plants here. Some are duplicates, some are hybrid tea roses, but my favorites are the David Austin roses I planted. Here are some close ups with the names of the species if you are interested. Enjoy!

David Austn Tamora Rose

The Tamora was my first rose bush. I ran across it in a nursery up in Encinitas. I was so surprised to find out that this was a rose, because at first glance, I thought it was a peony! The smell of this flower is absolutely amazing. This single rose inspired me to rip up my side yard and plant over 30 plants.

A Shropshire Lad

I became fascinated with the David Austin catalogue and pretty much memorized it. (Same as an art supply catalogue!) This flower is a climber. I planted four of them outside my kitchen window..not too shabby to look at while washing dishes!

Crocus Rose

This Crocus Rose does really well… a wide bush with a lot of flowers all season long. I should have planted more of these!

Jubilee Celebration

This rose is a knock out in person…the blooms are almost always larger than my hand! I have 3 of these bushes…super pretty in person.

David Austin Golden Celebration

I think out of all of the varieties, this one might smell the best and strongest..it’s fruity..like candy..and I am so happy that this bush blooms all summer long, where as most of the other plants only bloom 2-3 times.

David Austin “Wild Eve”

This is the softest blush color..I like this plant because it grows wild…with long stems all over the place. It really is wild!

William Shakespeare 2000 - David Austin

I think this was the second bush that I purchased. I had never seen anything like this rose at the time. These are also super large blooms, like Jubilee Celebration, only they don’t last as long as the others. They smell really amazing too!

I hope you enjoyed my garden tour…now, let’s get back to the art.

See you soon!
