Notes

Shrub to 2m tall.  A spine usually at the base of each leaf cluster, and the tips of the branchlets also often spiny.  Leaves rather thick and fleshy, in clusters on the branchlets.  Leaves 0.5-3.6cm long, 1-6mm wide, flat, hairy or hairless, with blunt tips.  Flowers white to cream or yellow, tubular, the tube split to the base, with 5 lobes, solitary at the bases of the leaves.  Fruit purple or black.
