About The Book

Since time immemorial man has endeavoured to communicate with his Creator. By His grace. Allah has informed us, in unequivocal terms, that through munajah (prayer and supplication) one can converse with Him, that He responds to the caller when he calls, and that supplication itself is an act of worship. The noble objective for every act of worship is to increase the spiritual proximity of the servant to his Master. Ultimately, man's real success is measured by the state of his relationship and intimacy with his Lord.

Translated for the first time in English, this rare treatise — aptly titled Al-Munajah (The Intimate Discourse) — focuses on attaining spiritual excellence through establishing qiyamul-layl (night vigil prayers) in our lives. Imam Hasan al-Banna has successfully woven together a deeply touching collection of Quranic verses, Ahadith as well as the sayings and supplications of our pious predecessors that elevate the soul beyond the mundane. This short yet powerful treatise deals with, amongst other things, the importance and virtues of Qiyamul-layl, Du'a and Istighfar, and the noble etiquettes related to them.

The book also includes a selection of moving supplications from 'Ali ibn Abu Talib. Imam al-Shafi'i, lbn Ata'illah, Imam Abul-Hasan al-Shadhili and others that will inspire all those striving for self development and for the transformation of their communities.
