Eugene “Gene” A. Juoni, 82, of Fond du Lac and formerly of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the St. Frances Home in Fond du Lac. Eugene was born the son of Aale I. and Annie A. (Warvi) Juoni on October 6, 1931 in Lead, South Dakota. He was a 1949 graduate of Ashland High School. On November 2, 1957, he was married to Virginia “Ginny” A. Oestreich at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. After moving off of the family farm, Gene had been a mechanic for many years. Later, he was employed at MPTC as a maintenance supervisor for over 20 years. Gene had been a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. He enjoyed deer hunting, ice fishing, and puzzles. He was very proud of his Finnish heritage. Gene loved attending antique power tractor shows with his son and grandsons. Gene especially enjoyed supporting his grandsons in their school activities. He will be greatly missed. Gene is survived by his wife of 56 years Ginny of Fond du Lac; his daughters: Nadine (James) Blumenstein of Janesville and Tammy (Michael) Hildebrand of Salt Lake City, Utah and his son James (Jennifer) Juoni of Fond du Lac; his grandsons: Jacob and Sean Patrick; his former daughter-in-law Charlene and her son Isaac; his sisters: Eunice Mattson of Kenosha and Eudora Peepo of Ashland. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Michael, his brother Elton, brothers-in-law: Clifford Mattson and Jerry Peepo and two nephews: Jerry and Russ Peepo. A visitation for Gene will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N Crystal Lake Road, Beaver Dam and on Thursday, September 11th from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 400 Hillcrest Dr., Beaver Dam with the Rev. Mark Wenzel officiating. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens in the township of Trenton, Wisconsin. Memorial donations may be directed to Peace Lutheran Church or to the Dodge County Antique Power Club. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff of the St. Francis Home, St. Agnes Hospital and Home Health Care for their wonderful and compassionate care.
