(KUTV) -- The Utah Jazz announced today that the team has signed guard David Stockton for the remainder of the season.

After signing David Stockton to a pair of 10-day contracts, the Jazz has signed the son of NBA Hall of Famer and Utah legend John Stockton, to a contract for the remainder of the season — three games. The story was reported by Yahoo Sports’ Shams Charania.

A street outside Vivint Smart Home Arena where the Jazz play is named after the all-time leader in assists and steals: John Stockton Drive. A statue of the guard is outside near an entrance.

The Jazz are currently in the number four spot in the Western Conference playoff race but still haven't clinched a post-season appearance. The team currently would match up against the San Antonio Spurs with home court advantage, but the standings are volatile.

Stockton scored his first point for the Jazz in previous games and knocked down a 3-pointer Friday night as the Jazz pounded on the Los Angeles Clippers 117 to 95.

Both Stocktons played for the Gonzaga Bulldogs in college.

League rules allow a team to sign any player to two 10-day contracts but after that, they must sign a player for the duration of the season.
