Kniphofia ensifolia
This is the tall growing lemon yellow flowered, autumn blooming poker which is often seen growing in large clumps on the Mornington peninsula and the Dandenongs. The first time this migrant saw an Eastern Spinebill it was supping on this Kniphofia which drips with nectar. Kniphofia ensifolia flowers at a very useful time, around mothers day, and used to be grown quite extensively as a cut flower. Tough and drought tolerant sun lover. 160cm x 100cm.
