  • Conifer, compact, small evergreen tree, leaves bright gold, especially in winter, branch tips pendulous, "giving a fountain-like effect" (Jacobson, 1996).
  • Sun or partial shade
  • Hardy to USDA Zone 5     Introduced in about 1972 by Mitsch Nursery, Aurora, Oregon.  Jacobson (1996) states that a yellow-gold Port Orford Cedar (Falsecypress) once sold by Monrovia Nursery as ‘Golden King’ was actually ‘Golden Showers’.  ‘Golden King’is a vigorous golden-yellow form that originated from seed of ‘Triomf van Boskoop’(a blue-green to silver selection) by the K. Wezelenburg & Zoom Nursery near Boskoop, Holland before 1931.
