Abstract

Sepiolids are a lesser known group of cephalopods. This paper deals with the sepiolids of the southern Caribbean in Colombian waters. Six species can be found. Semirossia tenera, Semirossia sp. Austrorossia antillensis, Austrorossia sp., Heteroteuthis cf. dispar, Nectoteuthis pourtalesii. A short description for each species is given. A redescription of Nectoteuthis pourtalesii is given, including the digestive and reproductive tract. Two new species, one Austrorossia and one Semirossia were found. A partial description for each of these species is provided. The appendix contains morphometric measurement and indexes. (Tables 16). With this, the number of sepiolids from the southern Caribbean is increased to eight species.
