Abstract

The ragged bigscale Scopelogadus mizolepis is redescribed using the specimens from the Atlantic and Indian oceans and the western and central parts of the Pacific Ocean. The species inhabits tropical and subtropical waters of the Atlantic, Indian and western and central parts of the Pacific oceans, where it is found between about 40° N and 30°–40° S, in the Pacific Ocean, eastwards to ~130° W (probably east). Habitat depths are from 25 to 1500 m.
