Abstract
A new species Scopelogadus multilamellatus sp. n. has been described from the tropical waters of the Indian Ocean. The new species has a large number of pseudobranchial filaments (9–11); the largest of the two gill filaments opposite the angular gill raker is rather long, the color of the stomach surface is uniformly dark, without noticeable darkening in the posterior part. S. unispinis was redescribed. The species lives in the tropical waters of the Indian and western Pacific Ocean. A taxonomic key is developed to identify all species of the genus Scopelogadus.
