Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS) is characterized by a triad of eczema, thrombocytopenia, and immunodeficiency

Microthrombocytopenia is an important clinical clue to the diagnosis of WAS

Quantification of intracytoplasmic expression of the WASp protein serves as a rapid and inexpensive screening test for WAS
