Abstract
Fibrosarcoma of bone is a malignant spindle cell tumor characterized by a herringbone or fascicular disposition of atypical, monomorphic fibroblasts. It is always negative for any specific marker, so this tumor is a diagnosis of exclusion. It can be primary or, less frequently, may be secondary to radiation or other pathologic conditions. It represents less than 1% of primary bone tumors and has been reported to occur in the second to seventh decades of life. Fibrosarcoma has a preference for the metaphyses of long bones, especially the distal femur. The more important prognostic feature is histological grade. Wide resection or amputation is the indicated treatment.
