Abstract
Undescended testes are the most common genitourinary anomaly in males. In boys with cryptorchidism beyond 4 months of age, surgical correction is indicated, in order to optimize fertility and mitigate malignant risk. Ideally, testicles should be placed within the scrotum by the age of 18 months. This can be performed via an open inguinal or prescrotal procedure in boys with palpable undescended testes or using a laparoscopic procedure in boys with impalpable testes.
