Abstract

The author describes the neurologic anatomy of the nose. The external nose and nasal cavity receive a rich sensory innervation through branches of the first and second divisions of the trigeminal nerve. Autonomic nervous supply to the nose arises from the superior salivatory nucleus in the brain stem (parasympathetic) and superior cervical ganglion (sympathetic) via the pterygopalatine ganglion.
