Abstract
The subject of the following observations is to be seen in chart 1, where the health care delivery system is divided by framework categories showing selected elements and indicators. The paper is restricted to the financing side of health care (source of funding)1 . It is an analysis of how private and public health care expenditures, the volume of which is to be seen by carriers for the years 1970–1978 in table 1, are financed in the Federal Republic of Germany. The analysis refers not only to the German statutory sickness funds system, which according to table 1 funded less than 50% of total health care expenditures, but to a broader concept, whose statistical framework was developed by the German Federal Office of Statistics, which has collected these data since 1970.
