Abstract
Sarcoidosis (Boeck’s disease) is a multisystem inflammatory disorder of unknown cause, characterized by the presence of noncaseating granulomas in multiple organs. Cutaneous sarcoidosis is the initial manifestation of the disease in almost one-third of the patients. Some patients with systemic sarcoidosis may develop skin manifestations later in the disease course. Cutaneous sarcoidosis can present with various skin manifestations and can mimic other skin disorders. This chapter illustrates various skin manifestations of sarcoidosis. Since cutaneous sarcoidosis is very rare in Sri Lanka, this chapter was written by Prof. Katerina Damevska (Macedonia) with her team in respect to editors’ invitation.
