Abstract
The Research Institute of Revolutionary Base Areas and the Department of Politics of Nanjing University jointly held a “National Symposium on the History of Revolutionary Base Areas” in Nanjing between October 21st and 25th, 1991. The intention was to review accomplishments in historical studies of revolutionary base areas since the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee in December 1978 when China had adopted the policy of reforming coupled with the embrace of more openness.
