Abstract
Pascher (1914, pp 151, 153, 158) used the name “Dinophyceae” for one of his “Algenreihen”. The following typified names are available for this class: Peridiniophyceae Knoblauch in Warming 1890, p. 9 (“Peridinea”); Dinophyceae T. A. Christensen 1978, p. 65 (typified by Dinococcus Fott) For a description of dinoflagellate features see Chap. 2.
