Solanum amayanum: A new wild Peruvian potato species

Abstract

A new diploid (2n=2x=24) wild Peruvian species ofSolatium, S. amayanum (series Tuberosa, Sect.Petota), from the Andean region of province Tayacaja, department of Huancavelica, is described, illustrated, and compared withS. medians possibly its closest relative. It has been named in honor of my assistant, Mr. Jesus Amaya Castillo.

Se describe, e ilustra una nueva especie tuberífera deSolanum, S. amayanum (de la serie Tuberosa, Sect.Petota) de la región andina peruana de la provincia de Tayacaja, departamento de Huancavelica. Se compara conS. medians posiblemente su pariente más cercano. Nombrada en honor de mi asistente, Sr. Jesús Amaya Castillo.
