General:
Annual or biennial herb from a taproot; stems spreading to prostrate, freely branched, glabrous, 10-50 cm long.
Leaves:
Stem leaves alternate, divided several times, blue-green, usually with a bloom.
Flowers:
Inflorescence of loose axillary and terminal racemes with several flowers; corollas yellow, 12-18 mm long; spurs 3-6 mm long and rounded at the tip.
Fruits:
Capsules, thin, curved, drooping, 20-25 mm long, constricted between the seeds; seeds 2 mm long, black, shiny.

Habitat / Range

Moist to dry grasslands, meadows, rocky slopes, roadsides, clearings and forest openings in the steppe, montane and subalpine zones; frequent throughout BC east of the Coast-Cascade Mountains; N to AK, YT and NT, E to PQ and S to UT, MO, OH, TX, CA and MX.
