Since he founded the Albany, New York-based Columbia Development Companies (CDC) in 1988, Joseph Nicolla has provided planning, design, and financial oversight to the development of more than 9 million square feet of real estate space valued at more than $1.5 billion. Some of Joseph Nicolla's most notable projects include the MVP Health Care corporate headquarters in Downtown Schenectady, 677 Broadway in downtown Albany, and the Vista Technology Campus in Bethlehem.

Beyond leading numerous projects in the Capital District of New York State, Joseph Nicolla leverages CDC's position as an industry leader to supply financial support to numerous nonprofits, including the Stranded Soldier Program, the American Heart Association, and the American Cancer Society's HopeClub. CDC also sponsors several City of Albany events and, combined, has donated more than $1.5 million to local charities.

Joseph Nicolla previously held project-manager roles with The Edgewater Companies and The Pyramid Companies. At Edgewater, he led development efforts of 1 million square feet of office space in Syracuse for IBM. Before he began his career, he earned a bachelor of science in civil engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he was an officer of the Chi Phi fraternity.
