Just had a team dinner here last night, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. We ordered a bunch of stuff, some were better than the others. Here is a list of vegetarian things we ordered:

      - Potato Tikki Chaat: this is delicious. We ordered 2-3 of these, as even the non-vegetarians loved it. The potato tikki is in the center and it's surrounded by fried pakoras and chutneys. The whole thing is delicious.
      - Dahi Puri: this is yummy! The yoghurt was a bit too thick for me, but it tasted amazing.
      - Avocado and Green Pea Chaat: this was a unique dish and really yummy. I liked the taste of the green chickpeas, flavored well with the chutneys.
      - Celeriac & Sunchoke Galouti Kebab: I wasn't a fan of this at all. It was bland and tasted like fake meat.
      - Cauliflower Kohliwada: this was a bit on the spicy side, but quite nice. Not as good as the potato tikki though.
      - Jackfruit Biryani: so good. Loved the flavors and taste.
      - Malai Paneer Pinwheel: this is so so good. Just order this without thinking. It's amazing.
      - Spinach Saag: yummy. Tasted very good.

We had no space left for dessert. The food was great. The service was great. The ambiance is loud, so not a place for cozy and quiet dining. Highly recommend trying out this place. It's not the traditional Indian food you find. Loved the unique twist to the food.

We left feeling hungry! Let's start off with the positives though: FANTASTIC service - our waiter gave us ample recommendations of drinks and plates to share. He even changed the music for us to Indian music after we made a funny comment about the 2010s pop remixes they were playing LOL The ambiance definitely gives off date night, with its dimmed lightning during dinner and louder music. They also have a fun cocktail menu, with names that are of popular Bollywood movies!

The food was just okay and portions were small. We were a group of 4 and the waiter kept telling us to order more, indicating that we wouldn't be full with the dishes lol Our food also came out just warm, including our Butter Chicken, which was good, but nothing special. The orders of Naan Bread were yummy, but at a steep price for $8 each. My FAVORITE dish was the Potato Tikki Chat - each element of the dish complemented one another very well!

Overall, I'm glad that I tried this trendy restaurant, however it's a place I'd come once. I can't justify the price we paid for the portions and how satiated (or lack thereof) we were afterwards. I'd opt for other Indian restaurants with a more affordable menu that's just as good and will leave you fuller.

The ambiance is really great! The Menu is exiting to explore and the service was really good. Now that the positives are outa the way.. the negatives..

The food was mediocre at best. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, and most of it was lacking seasoning and wasn't hot. Felt like it was not done fresh? Even the main course (especially the jackfruit biriyani) was barely warm and not seasoned enough.

      The drinks were good though.

We arrived early for happy hour. Sat at the bar and had perfect mixed drinks and 2 small plates. Moved to a table for the tasting menu. The server was very helpful and knowledgeable about the cuisine and the menu. Service was perfect. Beautiful atmosphere mural and color scheme. Would definitely recommend.

Baar baar is always a hit in any group setting. Sometimes that homesickness strikes in a way that can only be satiated with a tickle of home in the belly. My favorite part of the chefs process here is the unique twist he gives to traditional street food while keeping it interesting and relevant to the NYC food scene.

Some important points to note: *halal alert* and the reason I docked the one star:

The only dessert that didn't have pork gelatin was the carrot halwa

In the meats, only the chicken and lamb are halal, which always a little annoying in a south Asian restaurant. Maybe manhattan can take a bite from
London's food scene and get a little more inclusive , especially when appropriating the cuisine of a predominantly Muslim country.

That said, the Ambiance is always lit and the service itself was great. the server was very knowledgeable and considerate about dietary restrictions and even proactively alerted us about the gelatin in the dessert.

Notable items : beetroot cutlets , jalapeño chicken kulcha and tuna tartare papri chaat

^im partial to fusion dishes that maintain authenticity while achieving gastronomical delight and that was well executed. The lamb shank nihari was in the same vein and showed promise as well. Alas! The execution let us down a notch'.

The carrot halwa was underwhelming but it was an ambitious dessert and I applaud the effort nonetheless.

Will be back for a hearty meal.

Stumbled on this super elegant Indian restaurant while wandering NYC in search of a great meal and we were not disappointed! My husband, who was born in India but raised in NY, is always on a quest for elevated Indian cuisine - Baar Baar fits the bill!

We enjoyed the fantastic Joker cocktail - a creative take on the old-fashioned. For our meal, we were lucky enough to be there during Restaurant week when they had it three course $45 per person fixed menu that was absolutely outrageous.

I loved the vegan avocado chat and the butter chicken for my main course, and also had bites of my husband's fish which was fabulous. I don't usually get dessert but we were given small portions of a delicious coconut pudding. M

I absolutely adore the interior, which is quite elegant and comfortable. My only complaint would be that the service was rather cold and unfriendly. But otherwise it was a stellar five star experience, and I will be back!

Not sure what to give it. I think it's somewhere between three and four stars. There were several things I liked about Baar Baar. Overall, it is a pretty good restaurant. However, I wasn't too impressed with the food. I appreciate that they took part in NYC Restaurant Week. The service was courteous and prompt. Servers checked in with us regularly to make sure we were having a nice time. The decor and ambiance were modern and beautiful. The avocado and chickpea chat was zesty and tasty. The butter chicken was not bad. I do like Baar Baar for its quick service, elegant decor, and pleasant ambiance.

Baar Baar is definitely one of the best high end Indian restaurants, I've been to in a long time. My friend and I went on a Sunday for my birthday dinner. They have a tasting menu which had a great array of different food options, so we decided to try it out. We were so glad we did because everything was amazing and the portions were just right per person.

It was great to be able to try a variety of food options. They also had really delicious cocktails which some very creative names. My friend I both got the slumdog millionaire which was so refreshing. It had a nice sweet and fruity taste to it which we loved.

The place itself is also beautiful. Gorgeous plus seating and beautiful artwork as well. It's definitely a nice place to celebrate something. Everything was wonderful here from the ambiance to the service, to the food, and I can't wait to come back to try more of their food and drinks!

Finally checked out Baar Baar in Sep and came back in Dec. Had a nice time both visits. The atmosphere was elegant and trendy, but not too loud or hectic. I enjoyed the Indian-themed artwork. Service was good.

Both times we opted for the tasting menu, which is on the high side, but feels like a good deal compared to selecting a la carte entrees, appetizers, etc. The first time I chose the Butter Chicken entree, which was so delicious, I took my leftovers home and they tasted even better the next day. The sauce was so tangy and flavorful (you can call it "umami") and I just wanted to pour it over everything. The second time I got the braised lamb curry, which was OK. Additional entrees ordered were the tiger prawn curry and tandoor mushroom.

The drinks were fun - the menu featured each one alongside a classic Bollywood movie.

I enjoyed both visits and would surely come back!

My boyfriend surprised me for dinner at Baar Baar and I was so excited since this is my first time trying this place. The inside was super cute and lovely, and a part of the place gave me 80's/90's Bollywood vibes.

We started with CHICKEN & JALAPENO KULCHA with Parmesam & Shishito Pepper and CHICKEN MALAI TIKKA. Both were delicious and flavorful, that definitely did not disappoint.

      For our main spread:
Garlic Naan - 2 Pieces, Cheese Naan, Chickpea Curry, Traditional Butter Chicken, Fava & Corn Kofta, Saffron Rice. Everything was so delicious and flavorful. I wasn't too crazy for the saffron rice, but it was still good. We wash all of this down with some mango lassie and my DDLJ drink.

Waitstaff were great. Everything came super fast and they were also kind enough to give us a bigger table when requested.

Would be back to try more things on their menu for sure.
