Barsac Brasserie

I'm sure it helps that we live in the neighborhood, but my wife and I go here almost every week because we can't beat the reliably good food and the friendly bartenders. The nightly specials are always worthwhile. Their menu is seasonal so many of their best dishes are only available certain times of the year, but they're worth the wait. They often have less exciting dishes on the menu, which is probably what earns them the more mediocre reviews on this site, but if you order right, it's a great neighborhood bistro. Their bolognese is one of the better ones in town, and their braised lamb shank is ideal.

The service is always super friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed and refined. Best of all, the noise level is very low even when crowded, unlike most every other restaurant in town.

I went to this upscale Universal-Noho spot for drinks and a light supper quite a while back.

I recall somewhat pricey yet nice fare, but was so into the beloved company I was with can hardly remember what I ate--and somehow remember my first or two apple martinis that night were quite good.

While that was a birthday-catch-up-and-gossip-with-college buddies thing, I'm sure it will be more than appropriate for a friendly biz meal.

Easily got a table Wednesday night for a group of 9 but service was slow given that there was a small amount of people in the restaurant. Nice wine list and full bar available. Food overall was decent but menu is pretty regular bistro fare. Would recommend going with one of the specials. Oyster appetizer was very fresh and the best part of the meal.

It's good, but not great. If I'm going to spend moderately on a nice dinner I would choose a lot of places before this one. Sorry.

Incredible Service, Delicious Food and Great Place to Throw a Party

Don't let the plain exterior fool you, the place is beautiful inside. I highly recommend Barsac for a meal or to have a party there. I had my 30th birthday party there, and I closed the restaurant down on a Saturday night for my 90 guests. This was a sit down affair, with dancing and lots of great food and drinks. Lisa (the owner) was extraordinarily friendly and accommodating. The wait staff was on point the whole night, and made sure that all of the guests' expectations were exceeded. Overall, the night was amazing and there was no better place to have this event.

Pros: Food, Drinks, Charming Interior. Delicious filet mignon.

Cons: Calamari wasn't great.

My fiance works long hours and since it was Valentine's Day he decided to be adventerous and call Barsac to see if if they could squeeze us in. IT WORKED. We went in and the place is gorgeous, and the food was spectacular, being originallly from NOLA, it was up to my standards, great french food!!. Service was excellent. I could not ask for a better place to spend Valentine's at and dinner. Great place, check it out!!!!
