Chablis is such a cute and quaint restaurant. It's small enough that it keeps its romantic date night vibe, especially with the dimly lit chandeliers and dark wood inside, but still spacious enough to accommodate groups.

I had dinner on a Sunday with a group of 6. When we arrived, there were a few couples enjoying a meal, as well as two larger groups celebrating birthdays. There's even an outdoor patio that transports you to an Italian garden terrace. So cute!

For the meal, I started off with the mussels with coconut red curry. The mussels were so tender and juicy, and the curry brought the whole dish up a notch. The starter came with a nice serving of grilled bread, so I was able to sop up all the yummy curry. For my entrée, I had the duck legs confit. I must say, the portion size was quite large. The pomegranate seed garnish was the perfect burst of sour flavor with the rich duck. The wild rice on the bottom wasn't my favorite -- I did not find it very flavorful. However, the overall dish was pleasant.

My family and family friends all enjoyed their dishes as well: crab cakes, barramundi, short ribs and the aloo gobi...just to name a few.

We had a great experience at Chablis! The live guitarist played throughout the evening and nicely set the mood. I highly recommend this restaurant for anniversaries/dates or group gatherings!

Having grown up in Tarzana, I had little to no expectation for what quality a wine bar would be like here. I had read mixed reviews, but it was so close to home that I figured it would be a great excuse to have some wine and grab some light bites. I definitely wasn't disappointed!

The service started off a bit spotty, but definitely improved as the evening progressed. The (presumably owner) started helping out our table and brought out a special bottle of wine for us that was truly delicious. The food was all very solid and made for good light bites.

Overall, I'd definitely be back when I'm in the area!

Chablis was the choice of many establishments that were listed during restaurant week. While looking forward to the items one their selected menu as well as trying a new place my overall stay seemed to not meet its expectation.

I came to Chablis with 3 other friends, although it was the intention of choosing items from the DineLA special menu we wanted to see what the place had to offer. Everyone expect for myself decided to order off the regular menu while I stuck with my initial intentions.

As always the drink order was taken first. 2 orders of wine, a soft drink, and a cup of hot tea was put in. The soft drink and tea never made it. I made it apparent that my friends were missing their drink orders but the tea was the only other drink that came. When we were all ready to order my choice from the DineLA menu was..

      Appetizer: Crab Cakes

Entree: Butter Mounted Ribeye Steak (Paired with Red Blend Bell, "Big Guy", California, 2006)

      Dessert: Red Velvet Cake

Service started to become even less constant as we did not get served bread and had to ask for it. 30mins after ordering our dishes, everyone's entrees came (except for mine) while my appetizer made its appearance. We all had a tasted of each others food and commented one which ones were our favorite. Noticing that everyone was almost finished with their meals, I have not received my entree. A friend of mine goes on a phone call and it was mentioned by me that "if my friend came back and my food didn't come by then I'm going to cancel my order" (Since my friend spends a great deal of time on his phone) After returning from his phone call, there was yet to be any new additions to our table. I checked my phone to see what time I have checked into the place and it happen to be 1 hour later. I thought about how it is taking more than 30mins for this place to make a med-rare ribeye steak.

I had to flag a waitress to find out the status of my meal. I asked for our waiter and wished to cancel my order. I had explained that it was taking an unreasonable amount of time. The waiter replied "I thought you wanted to start eating with your friends, so I brought your appetizer first". I understand that logic but my rebuttal commented on their slow service and how it shouldn't add an extra 30mins after being served the appetizer to ask what the status of my meal is.

The waiter tried to explain again by saying that they overcooked the first steak. (But then again, how long does it really take to cook a med-rare steak?) Also if there was an issue, I shouldn't be the one asking what is going on. There was no comp and the waiter kept on insisting that I still want the entree that I ordered. An instance of the waiter asking if i want to take it home was one of his options.

I told the waiter that all I wanted to end my meal was the 3rd course, dessert, The Red Velvet cake was going to be the cherry topper even without the meal. It came in an unique shape and consisted with a rich coat of cream. Comparing to the ones that I have seen being served mine did not come decorated with a strawberry on top. Not that I really cared but presentation is what should have been considered. Knowing that mine did not look up to par comparing with others I felt cheated.

Other than that, the two dirty forks, that were not replaced was the only other negative aspect of the place. I only ordered wine because it was recommended as a pair for my ribeye. I feel cheated as I never got to try their recommended pair.

I did enjoy the atmosphere as it brought a feeling of being at home. The wood floors and wooden walls brought the dark enclosed feeling that brought me comfort. My crab cake was delicious but the corn medley or Asian coleslaw is what was described paired really well with the crab cake.

This negative review is not about their food, but 100% towards their service. Had the service had been much better and prompt I would have been more content with a wait. If the waiter had informed me that there was an issue I would have been okay with it. If our service was more attentive, there would be no issue.

Hmmm, this place is... curious. From the outside and inside, it's a vaguely European cafe. The patrons are mostly in their 60s and up, and there's no trouble finding a table on a Saturday night. Live music on hand, of the very sedated variety. So, not exactly a trendy hipster joint. We soldiered on, as we were on a mission to assess possible wedding venues.
We tried the beet salad, short rib with sauteed greens and rhubarb, and the sea bass with mushroom risotto. Everything was remarkably bland - a total lack of spicy kick or vinegary punch. Perhaps this is to suit the patrons, or vice versa. Mind you, everything was alright, cooked properly, nice portions - just lacking any verve whatsoever. It's rare that my fiancee wants to add salt to food, but here she gave the salt shaker a workout.
Highlights included very good service and wines that were tasty and well priced (a quite proper Mosel Spatlese Riesling and a nice Rhone red for $19 total for a glass of each - tough to beat that in LA). The food was about $70 before tax and tip, which is not outrageous but at that level I expect more flavor, really. I'd say Chablis is good for a 40th anniversary party, more than for a wedding.

Cutest spot for a romantic, date night. Came here on a Tuesday night and there were very few people seated. Delicious food & a guitar player in the background to top it off. Our waitress mentioned that there's a piano player on Friday and Saturday and a guitar player most other nights. Such a charming place! Owner Saeed is the kindest, most welcoming man, makes you feel like family.. will definitely be back!

Also- I had originally stopped by to get more info about having a private event here and it is honestly the perfect place for a bridal shower, baby shower, etc.. there are menu options that make it so convenient.

PHENOMENAL Experience!.. Had the pleasure of visiting this fine establishment last week, Tuesday night to be exact. We have an anniversary tradition where we pick a Groupon and try a new place... There's parking behind the building about 8-10 spots so I can see how parking could be an issue on the weekend, the entrance from the lot into a picturesque walkway was definitely a plus. We had the Calamari which I would highly recommend, we also both had the Filet Mignon for our entrés. Let me tell you! when I say it was cooked to perfection, that's an understatement. The 5 star rating is based on my Groupon experience. I could see how it could get a little pricey without the free appetizer, desert & 2 glasses of wine ...

Filet Mignon cooked Medium Well, will definitely just go Medium next time.

      Hard decision about this one!!
Food was 4. We first had the crab cakes that were pretty delicious. Then i had the short rib (exquisite!) and my husband had the duck legs which he had to send back after tasting the first bite and spitting it out onto a napkin- it was really dry!! After that though, he got the filet mignon which was fantastic and well made!
Ambiance was 3, not special but not bad, pretty old place.
Service was 2, did not correlate with the quality of the food at all. Our server was a young lady that seemed to have no experience in customer service or food service. She wasn't rude but was quite laughable at her lack of knowledge.
Overall we give it a 3.5. Wouldnt come again. We do t like paying that much money and not getting adequate service.

Joined some friends here for happy hour to celebrate a birthday. Early on a Friday evening, we had the place to ourselves and had good service. The prices and selections for both food and wine were fine; nothing that I was over the moon about and nothing that was offensive.

It's not a place that I'd rush back to, certainly, but it's a place I wouldn't object to if someone wanted to meet for happy hour.
