I know it's a strange place to have a steak but one of the best we've had (little burned out on fish after a week). Appetizer was great as well. Love the atmosphere here (we dined at the bar). Great service and we will definitely be back on our next trip down.

The breakfast/brunch at the Green Turtle Inn is second to none! They have all the delicious classics and a killer Bloody Mary to go with it.

Make sure to take one of their huge cinnamon rolls for a delicious snack later in the day!

We stopped at the Green Turtle Inn on our way back from Key West. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and shown to our seats in a spacious, high-ceiling dining room with a large bar in the middle. We were there at lunch time and were disappointed to find that the breakfast/lunch menu is mostly breakfast. Some of the breakfast items sounded yummy but we wanted lunch. I settled on the wedge salad with chicken, which was good, and my husband had the chili and cornbread. He said the chili was meaty and flavorful. The waitress was a little brusque but I don't blame her; she was very busy taking care of the entire dining room by herself. The towel dispenser in the bathroom had an Out of Order sign and there were no other towels provided so I was forced to dry my hands on my pants.

I think this restaurant has the potential to be great but didn't quite hit the mark for us.

We stopped in to try the turtle chowder. Never had turtle before, we all joked, it will probably taste like chicken. Well, turtle has a beef like flavor, so maybe turtle is the beef of the sea!
The turtle chowder is peppery, and loaded with vegetables; it made me think this is what happens when beef vegetable soup and gumbo get together but the beef and shellfish fish are replaced by a shelled reptile.
Richelle said I don't want to eat turtle, so she got a turtle Sunday, which was a cake brownie.
      Service is excellent.

The place is spacious and welcoming. They have a large bar area. The alcohol on display points to somewhat of a high-end experience with The Prisoner wine standing out. Service was attentive and overall the food was good.

Coming here for brunch on a Wednesday I had the Cinnamon Roll French Toast - Topped with Berries. I almost never do sweet stuff, but this is one exception for the year, well, maybe two, but you get the idea. Was it worth it? Pretty close! Outside of sugar being sugar I was very happy with it. Not too sweet and the syrup was still a great combination.

Someone else at my table had the shrimp and grits. Well, if you are going to choose between the two Triple D places in town I would choose the other one for that dish. Otherwise, if you are coming here, breakfast is awesome and probably a lot of other stuff too.

      Went for brunch- MISTAKE
      Food: cold, weird color.
      Drinks: gross.
      Service: terrible.

The chicken and waffles are the only safe option.
The espresso martini is not it, not shaken, no froth, no garnish, NOT IT. The martinis had sat and separated by the time they reached the table.
The drinks took FOREVER. Canceled the second round to just grab the check or we would've been there another 40 min.
The omelet was warm but a weird grey blue color. The side cheesy hash was cold, toast was stale and cold as well.
Sausage gravy+biscuits- good flavor but had to return them for a fresh set, cause they were so cold and soggy, even the gravy was broken.
We got checked on maybe once, and had to ask for for an actual bill when the server just announced the total after asking if we were paying cash.
Should've known better when the first thing from the server was "how are you guys. Im ready to go home"

Chicken & waffle. Sausage gravy biscuits. Turtle omelet. Espresso martini.

Well, we were all looking forward to getting the barbecue to go to take to Hawks Cay based on previous good food. We live in Jacksonville and it's normally a 5-6 hour drive. Traffic was brutal due to wrecks and storms so I do want to give them credit for allowing me to cancel our to go order when we figured out we would not get there until 2 1/2 hours after our expected pickup. We were in three different vehicles and all of us faced the same situation.

I am loyal to restaurants so I was determined to make it back up there during our week long visit. We drove back up the next day to do Sunday brunch and then get the barbecue to go for dinner.

The whole vibe was off and the food was too. The waitress we had was so rude and not accommodating to any special requests. Despite repeating things, they came out wrong and we sat and waited while those mistakes were fixed. The food was also not at all what we have experienced in the past. The burgers were overcooked, the eggs in my breakfast burrito were brown, the chicken sandwich was overcooked and worst of all the barbecue we brought home for dinner was not good. The brisket was fatty, the chicken was dry, the macaroni and cheese was so weird and like mush. The pulled pork was good and the beans and slaw were OK, but just not as good as years passed.

In the past, their brunch was excellent and the barbecue was too. Proceed with caution as of now is my opinion.
