We make Incredible sandwiches (you know, the kind you wish you had the time and energy to dream up on your own?) and we use only Boar’s Head meat and only local bakery bread☺️

Polite staff, clean facility. Lots of options for sandwiches and sides. Loved the Oreo brownies.

I like having a nice small neighborhood sandwich shop with quality meat. I just wish they were open on Sunday!

People are so friendly. Immaculately clean. Food tastes very fresh and is positively delicious. I can't wait every item on their menu. I already know I'll be a regular.

The food is great! Been coming here for years. The women who work here are awesome, and very hard workers. But.... It has come to my attention that the owner was possibly practicing wage theft. I was told that he was taking the tips the customers put in the payment machine. There's a tip can, so please bring cash with you for tips, and don't do it in the card machine.
Update- I talked with the owner and have decided to edit this to be more fair. However, I did not like the way I was followed to my car to ask me to erase this review. Won't be eating here again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Steffany L.Alexandria, VA09035May 23, 2023

When I arrived I was the only ordering customer with 2 kids eating at a table. No one else came in during the ordering.
I ordered a steak and cheese sub and a turkey club sandwich. Bought some chips and a couple of drinks.
The owner and I had a nice conversation. As I was talking I talked about how hard it was to get a good sandwich and especially a steak and cheese. He made a point of defending his high prices by saying he used Boar's Head meats, fair enough. He also noted that during lunch he had lines out the door, good for him and I congratulated him for having a successful business with good food.
I got home. The club was for the next day so I put it wrapped in the fridge.
The steak and cheese sandwich was not. The meat appeared to be roast beef and there was almost no cheese at all. The tomatoes were green, the put two small pieces of tomato and one of them was the heel. The lettuce was spotted brown along with a hard piece from the stalk. Inedible.
You would think that he or the woman making the steak and cheese would hear my complaint about a good steak and cheese and make a little more effort, not less.
I then looked at the club. First, not a rule but the bread was not toasted and just simple white bread. It had a decent amount of contents but, again, the lettuce was brown and the tomatoes were slight and green.
I emailed the owner noting what I've detailed above in a very nice way without "yelling".
The owner didn't even have the decency to reply! I wrote a brief note again in case something happened...no reply.
I can only guess he gets so many complaints that he has stopped replying to them.
Maybe it's true and the office buildings he's located below keep him going and don't care about the lack of attention but I advise all locals to go somewhere else, even Subway where you could get two for the price of one at SGD.
Most certainly, take out the "Gourmet" out of your name. Boar's Head does not equal gourmet.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michelle f.Woodbridge, VA0314Mar 14, 2023
First, the ladies that work there are super sweet and helpful! It was nice to be greeted by a lively women so early in the morning! And they speak Spanish too, that's a nice plus! Second, my lox bagel was delicious! Hands down amazing! And third, the place looked very clean. Which makes me confident to eat from a clean place!

They make the best Freshly made to order sandwiches for a reasonable price. It is steady business but never crowded, neighborhood best kept secret. A welcome change from all of the other eateries in and around Mt Vernon. They are quick, responsive to your needs and have vegan options. I hope your experience is or will be as pleasant and relaxing as my experiences have been. I really like this place. Oh, and every so often, you may run into Santa Claus as he checks on all the kids to make sure they stay on the nice list. Hohoho

Good sandwiches. Don't order though yelp, call them to order or go to their website, you'll pay less for the same.
