I'm a big advocate for independent corner markets and bodegas with easy walking access, which unfortunately are rather sparse in central Ohio. This Target store is like a Mini Me of their bigger stores. The bigger Greatland and Superstores are a one stop shop for the suburban scape; this company's aiming for the mass college student foot traffic. Easy access if you're on foot right on High St. In smaller quantities, this store has your basics. It looked like checkout is all self-service kiosk style except for two employee-manned ones (I'm assuming for the low-traffic times of day (ie, the nite shirt). There's frozen foods - tv dinners, cook-and-eat meals (pasta, stir fries, etc.), ice cream treats, toiletries, home cleaning, sparse on the clothing selection, basic electronics and school supplies.

This morning, my daughter and I had an unpleasant experience at the Target order pickup/check out area. The male staff member attending to us displayed unprofessional behavior that significantly dampened our shopping experience.
As we attempted to cancel an item we no longer wanted, the employee's demeanor was far from courteous. His actions, including eye-rolling, conveyed a sense of annoyance, which was both unwarranted and unhelpful. This attitude persisted throughout our interaction, making the entire process uncomfortable.
We also visited the store to pick up an item, but the rudeness continued. Even a simple expression of gratitude from our side was met with a lack of basic courtesy, as he chose not to reply.
Such behavior is not what we expect from Target, known for its customer service. We hope this feedback is taken seriously and that measures are implemented to ensure a more pleasant and professional shopping experience for all customers in the future.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 25, 2021
Sweetie dragged me here. I said "what do we need?" She said "that's not how Target works."
Apparently, you just go, and let your inner shopping spirit guide you, and "Target tells you what you need." I ended up with dress pants, which I do need, at half price.
It's on campus, which means small size and limited (and college-centric) selection. But, I wish we'd had something like this when I was in school. Handy, a little expensive but not crazy.
Street and I think garage parking nearby. We paid $1 for 45 minutes on the street, not bad.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 1 - Ryan S.Columbus, OH2226221615Nov 27, 2018
The new Target on High Street by campus is in my cross-hairs for sure. If you are not expecting me to drop thermonuclear payloads of screeching, angst-ridden, verbal bombs then you have not been paying attention or following my campus collection of reviews. But, on the other hand if you expect to be entertainment by the full Ryan-rant scale busting 11 then you may be disappointed; I don't exactly hate it; meaning: if it was located any other place in the urban core I'd give the company props for adjusting to neighborhood aesthetics and needs-- it is not the typical, cookie-cuter Target. But here it misses the mark. Hey, meeting needs and blending is good but culture counts, history counts. So I rate it the weakest of three stars--an "A-ok--" with the 'ok' trailing off into a curmudgeon's inaudible mumble by the most ancient, white bearded High Street old-timer.
Brought to you by the good goose steppers at Campus Partners, this pox of cultural nihilism sits across from Ohio State where for generations stood a Tudor revival building that had housed enrichments--a record shop and a couple dives--most notably the long lived punk institution The Distillery, Bernies Bagels. In my review of that basement dwelling hang (the last time I'll ever be there) I mentioned how it was known as Columbus' version of the infamous CBGB, the NY East Village crevice that introduced many garage bands. Coincidentally, CBGB is gone and has been supplanted by a Target too; its sterile retail space standing where Blondie, The Ramones, and Talking Heads made their start. Was my comparison a jinx? Maybe.
(Note: I rated Bernies as two stars berating them for not changing so for those who say that I am too nostalgic the facts do not support you.My argument against the changes off campus is more nuanced.)
Nevertheless, a Target is here, less than a mile from the Target at the Lennox. Apparently, the need for cheap foreign made cloths, over priced electronics, and dumb knickknacks demands two stores, and the poor students made snowflakes from years of helicopter parenting are too delicate to walk the full ONE block of ORR's muck to venture the wilderness of Kinnear F'n Road. (Relax Gen Z,the baby boomers of Campus Partners are the bulls-eye here.)
So here we are. Gone is the organic, the raw, the authentic imperfection of true life in favor of Campus Partner's wet dream of sterile, corporate, nothingness design to damper inspiration not sanction by America.corp, to quash personal growth, to maintain a mediocre and Peter Principle stamped approved status quo unworthy of the $100,000 of student debt in exchange for lousy education. Its simulacra red-brick facade is a perfect symbol of PoMo America-- phony image with nothing on the inside.
That said, it's not bad other than the trend it represents. It is not a full, ugly, Target. It is more of an elongated quickie mart, meaning that it focuses on food, cleaning supplies, dry goods the residence of the University district need. You do not feel like you are in a prefab department store on Sawmill, Rome-Hilliard, Brice, but in a cleaner Speedway on super-steriods. The is a positive. Weirdly, it felt like Long's Bookstore, when it was new, except it had produce instead of stacks.
Confused by my opinion? I guess I am mixed. My final feelings: I went to use the restroom, there was a line of tailgating drunks, glowing with the 62-point drop on x-ichigan, the annual game where the last 18-years Brutus' arrow has been straight and true. The line was long: coeds, hipsters, fans, eye-candy. They were there just for the toliet. An employee came out and made a snide commented on that fact. And I thought . . .
" Nice store, but you are destroyed Bernies soo....FFFFFF YOU!"Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 16615642970Apr 13, 2019
When I heard a Target was going in near campus, I was torn between the nostalgia and curiosity over (essentially) a tiny Target. It's a cute little place, featuring a Starbucks and a little CVS in the back. They've retained relevant sections geared towards the campus population: a small market area, including some fresh foods, school supplies, OSU gear, some clothing and accessory options, and the like. It looked like a number of folks were studying in the Starbucks seating area too. It is a nice option for what it is.

This Target is perfectly placed right off campus across from the Wex and near 16th! I always stop by this location for my groceries, school supplies, bathroom products, and even Starbucks. The prices are higher than at other Targets, but if you download the app, you can price check all your items to ensure you are getting the lowest possible price!
This Target, for the most part, has everything you need from bagels, eggs, milk, makeup, phone chargers, etc. If you live off campus, or in a dorm on North, this is the Target to go to!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - David W.Chicago, IL8030856Mar 15, 2020
This target is pretty small and is in a neighborhood with no parking. I suspect it's catering to OSU students but still a nontrivial walk from the campus if you're carrying stuff. Personally I'd drive to a different target if i needed big ticket items

I was not a big fan when I went. They had nothing at the time. And they were kind of rude. I obviously did't know the layout and I don't like driving in the area. I rather go to Olentangy. Maybe it will change, Maybe it wont. We will see once they get settled in.
