The owners here are great. Super friendly and will help you find exactly what fits your palate and needs.
They have variety of oils, vinegars, liqueurs and whiskies - along with dried stuff like pasta, peppers, salt, etc. You're bound to find something you like. Think of it like an adult candy land. :)
There are tons of different bottles you can get with your liquids too which is nice. They let you sample basically anything and everything. Be sure to check it out, have fun, and go crazy.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Apr 27, 2016
I am guilty of walking by this place, twice a day, five days a week. It is a shame that I only walked in today, but I suppose I am not in the market for olive oil, vinegar or specialty liquor every day of the week or all that often really.
So this Vom Fass is one of three around Hong Kong and Kowloon. As I was advised by the Vom Fass staff, who could not have been more friendly, kind, knowledgeable and welcoming, that the other stores are pretty straight shooters and this location is more fun with the painted bottles and such (not sure if this is true, for I have not been to the other shops). The day I was in, the sales clerk lady was the person who actually hand paints the bottles with those whimsical designs on them, in addition to being a sales clerk.
Olive oils, vinegars and interesting spirits...you can sample and taste any of them, you select your bottle size (at an additional cost), the staff dispenses in your bottle of choice, you pay and you go home to enjoy your products. You clean out the Vom Fass bottle and bring it back when you are done and now at no extra charge for the bottle (because you bought it the first time!), you can buy more of any varietal of olive oil or vinegar or spirit.
They had some delicious tasting vinegars and some wickedly fun looking spirits, but this first time around, I just went for olive oil. I love olive oil and consume it every single day. I sampled about 6 different kinds and went home with one. The prices advertised next to the the product I think are for the small bottles, for the price was more when we went to check-out because we bought a large bottle (I think it said something like $55HKD on the sign next to the one I purchased, but we ended up paying like $220, which included the price of our larger bottle). The oil I bought is from Greece and is really quite nice. I would buy it again. Good olive oil comes at a price, so know your stuff and also know the difference between pure olive oil, virgin olive oil and extra virgin olive oil...helps justify the expense.
As I said before, the staff was so friendly and warm. We enjoyed mulling about and making a purchase. It is a cute niche of a marketing idea to have a shop like this and I can appreciate that. We look forward to going back, with our bottle in tow, to try something else.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Truth Or Dare T.Toronto, Canada2847086Jan 10, 2016
What an amazing place. Not only can you buy oils, vinegars and liqueurs and whiskies. But you get to pick the bottle and or packing you want. They have lots of different bottle shapes etc.. to pick from. Fantastic gift idea. I can't imagine every seeing this in Ontario Canada where we have a tight ass liberal government Kathleen Wynne that keeps everything tightly controlled, regulated and heavily taxed (venting). Free sampling, as much as you want. Their moto "Look Taste and Enjoy". I just can't get use to living in the free society of communist China. I need to get back to my free demarcated heavily controlled, regulated and taxed Ontario Canada. This is to reckless for me. Not use to this much freedom.
