After a hiatus of eight years, Forum Macao’s ministerial conference is scheduled to return for its sixth instalment this April, according to a report by TDM.
The fifth edition of the conference was held in October 2016, with a sixth originally meant to take place in 2019, but it was delayed as it coincided with the transfer of office between Macao’s former Chief Executive Chui Sai On and incumbent Ho Iat Seng.
With the outbreak of the pandemic, the conference saw further delays, although an extraordinary ministerial meeting was held online in April 2022.

Last year, Ho stated that he intended to bring back the ministerial conferences for a sixth, offline edition either during the second half of 2023 or in 2024.
He also said yesterday that his administration was hoping to hold the 7th meeting of the Macao-Portugal Joint Committee soon. The body, which aims to deepen ties between Lisbon and the SAR, last met in 2019.
Founded in October 2003 by the central government, Forum Macao is tasked with facilitating intergovernmental exchange between China and the nine Portuguese-speaking countries, primarily in the spheres of economy and trade.
